Learn the secrets of wine-making at a renowned family-run wine cellar and local vineyard. During the winery visits you will taste 8-9 red, white, sparkling and dessert wines accompanied by local cheeses and cured meats.
We start our wine tour in Abruzzo at a small vineyard overlooking the stunning mountain peaks where the oldest grape variety in the region is cultivated. You will see how wine is made and taste five wines. Your knowledgeable guide will tell you about history of wine-making in Abruzzo and give you some tips on where in the region to find the best wines.
After that we will visit a 200-year-old wine cellar and a noble palace of a local family that has been making wines since the 19th century. Here you will taste another 3-4 wines.
The wines tasted during the tour are Montepulciano, Trebbiano, Pecorino, Cerasuolo as well as some rare types of traditional wine. Local cheeses, salami and prosciutto will be served during the tastings.
At the end of the tour we will try a few traditional local liquors in a small shop in the town of Tocco Da Casauria.
I can also organise customised wine tours in Abruzzo on request.
