Wineries visits

Learn the secrets of wine making at a renowned family-run wine cellar and local vineyard. During the winery visits you will taste 7-8 red, white and rosé wines accompanied by local cheeses and cured meats.

On our wine tour in Abruzzo we visit small family-run wineries. You will meet the producers and talk to them, see the real world of wine making and understand how much work goes into it.

My wine tours in Abruzzo are not about formal evaluation in characterless tasting rooms. They are about the personalities, stories and places behind a glass of wine. Vineyards we visit vary depending on the date booked but they all make excellent wine. One of them boasts stunning views over the mountain peaks. Here you will learn how wine is made and taste 3-5 wines straight from the tanks. During harvest, you’ll be able to taste fermenting grape must.

Another producer that we might visit will take us to their 200-year-old wine cellar in a family palace. Or we can go to a vineyard run by a former teacher, who makes only two types of excellent red wine on a hectare of land.

While you enjoy the vino, I will tell you about history of wine-making in Abruzzo and give you some tips on where to find the best wines in the region.

During the wine tour you will taste Montepulciano, Trebbiano, Pecorino, Cerasuolo.  Local cheeses, salami and prosciutto will be served during the tastings.

I can also organise customised wine tours in Abruzzo on request.

Have a particular wine in mind and want to know where and how it is made? Get in touch and I will organise a custom-made winery visit for you.
